The man behind the ad was none other than Daniel Carmichael, and in the year 1909, the Folsom-Telegraph headlined this article. Daniel Carmichael purchased 2,000 acres.
From Mr. Carmichael’s purchase, he laid out two colonies in 10-acre tracts, and he organized a real estate firm of Curtis, Carmichael, and Brand, which devoted itself to acquiring and developing land in Sacramento Valley.
Fast forward a few years and the first telephone service came to the residents with a 10-party line through Fair Oaks. The first bank in Carmichael, The Suburban Bank, was opened in the 1940s and was taken over by Crocker Bank in the 1950s.
In the following decades, Carmichael crew by the tens of thousands, and now has a population of around 72,000 people. As a Census-Designated Place, Carmichael lies in Sacramento County and is a suburb in the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area.
